Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, also referred to as Cosmetic Acupuncture, is acupuncture that focuses specifically on an aesthetic condition of the patient, usually concerning the face.  Like traditional acupuncture, it involves strategically inserting ultra-thin, sterilized needles into different areas of the skin with the aim of stimulating blood flow and balancing the body's Qi (which means vital energy according to Traditional Chinese Medicine).

What is a Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture session like?

A typical appointment may start with me asking about your digestion, sleep, energy levels, or diet.  These are important for me to know so I get a better sense of how your current physical and mental state is affecting your complexion.  From there, I will develop a treatment plan, mapping out where on the face and body the needles will be inserted and stay in place until removed.  Each session will end with either a facial gua sha or facial cupping.

Who is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture for?

Anyone who is looking for a natural and holistic approach to improving skin health and reducing signs of aging.  Those with Botox or filler should wait 4 to 6 weeks after injection before seeking this kind of treatment.

What are the potential side effects of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Side effects are generally mild and temporary.  These may include slight bruising, redness, or swelling at the needle insertion sites.

Is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture a natural alternative for Botox?

While facial acupuncture has been referred to as a "natural alternative" to Botox, they are not equivalent in the way they affect the skin.  Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture doesn't inhibit muscle contraction in the way that Botox does, but rather aims to stimulate more blood flow to an area.  Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture will take longer to show any results.  Most treatments are meant to be taken in a series, generally in a group of 10 to 12.  The effects of acupuncture are cumulative, so follow-up appointments are recommended.

Benefits of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

One of the most significant benefits of facial acupuncture is improved blood flow to the tissues and skin, which can change the appearance of the skin - sometimes immediately.  There's also a softening or "reset" of the tissue subject to muscle overuse and tension over time.  When the fascia and facial muscles are relaxed, the skin and tissues are better nourished and healthier, improving the skin's appearance and face shape.

Are the results the same as Botox?

The wrinkle smoothing effects of Botox and facial acupuncture aren't a mirror image of one another.  Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture improves the health and vitality of the skin and underlying tissues, deeply relaxes the nervous system to impact daily life, and improves the quality and function of internal organ systems.

Plus, while Botox consists of one treatment every three months or so, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture requires more regularity.  And the two treatments also work differently.  Botox relies on toxins to halt muscle communication for a wrinkle freezing effect; whereas acupuncture increases circulation and moves energy.

What makes Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture unique?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture   is unique because it offers a holistic approach to improving skin health and appearance.  Unlike invasive cosmetic procedures, facial acupuncture is non-surgical and focuses on promoting natural beauty from within.

  • Natural Approach: It harnesses the body's innate healing abilities to improve skin tone, reduce wrinkles, and promote overall skin health without the use of chemicals or surgery.

  • Holistic Perspective: Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture considers the whole person, addressing underlying imbalances in the body that may contribute to skin issues.  It aims to promote overall health and well-being while enhancing facial aesthetics

  • Traditional Wisdom:  Drawing from Traditional Chinese Medicine principles facial rejuvenation acupuncture targets specific acupuncture points on the face and body to restore balance and stimulate the flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood.

  • Personalized Treatment:  Each session is tailored to the individual's unique needs and concerns.  Taking into account factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and overall health.

  • Long Lasting Results:  While results may vary, many people experience gradual improvements in skin texture, tone, elasticity over a series of treatments.  The effects of facial rejuvenation acupuncture are often more subtle and natural looking compared to more invasive procedures.
